The Coalition Government has announced that it will not make any changes to the rates announced by the Labour Government and they will go ahead as planned from 1 October 2010.

From 1 October 2010 the new hourly rates will be:

  • £5.93 for workers aged 21 and over (rising from £5.80)
  • £4.92 for workers aged between 18 and 20 (rising from £4.83).
  • £3.64 for workers aged under 18 but above the compulsory school age (excluding apprentices) (rising from £3.57).
  • £2.50 for apprentices (under 19 years of age or 19 and over but in the first year of their apprenticeship).

The accommodation offset will rise from £4.51 per day to £4.61.
