National minimum wage increases | Go ahead as planned
The Coalition Government has announced that it will not make any changes to the rates announced by the Labour Government and they will go ahead as planned from 1 October 2010.
From 1 October 2010 the new hourly rates will be:
- £5.93 for workers aged 21 and over (rising from £5.80)
- £4.92 for workers aged between 18 and 20 (rising from £4.83).
- £3.64 for workers aged under 18 but above the compulsory school age (excluding apprentices) (rising from £3.57).
- £2.50 for apprentices (under 19 years of age or 19 and over but in the first year of their apprenticeship).
The accommodation offset will rise from £4.51 per day to £4.61.
