The national minimum wage rates from 1 October 2014 have been announced.

The national minimum wage rates, from 1 October 2014, will be:

  • The standard adult rate (workers aged 21 and over) will rise to £6.50 per hour (from £6.31).
  • The development rate (workers aged between 18 and 20) will increase to £5.13 (from £5.03).
  • The young workers rate (workers aged under 18 but above the compulsory school age who are not apprentices) will increase to £3.79 (from £3.72).
  • The rate for apprentices will rise to £2.73 per hour (from £2.68).
  • The accommodation offset will rise to £5.08 per day (from £4.91).
