The government has announced changes to the tax treatment of certain payments from employers to employees.

From April 2018 the tax treatment of certain payments is expected to change:
  • termination payments over £30,000 will be subject to employer national insurance contributions.
  • all PILONs (payments in lieu of notice) will be taxable.
  • injury to feelings awards will be taxable.
