The government has announced changes to the tax treatment of certain payments from employers to employees.
From April 2018 the tax treatment of certain payments is expected to change:
- termination payments over ÂŁ30,000 will be subject to employer national insurance contributions.
- all PILONs (payments in lieu of notice) will be taxable.
- injury to feelings awards will be taxable.
