It is often overlooked that employees are protected against dismissal and detrimental treatment where they make a disclosure, not to their employer, but to another person or organisation.  The government's has updated its guide, Blowing the Whistle to a Prescribed, List of Prescribed Persons and Bodies, which is always worth a look before considering, for example, disciplinary action against an employee you think may have 'told tales out of school'.
