7 March 2014 – NMW penalty

The penalty for failure to pay the national minimum wage is due to increase from £5,000 to £20,000 with effect from March 2014. It is also possible that the penalty will apply per underpaid worker!

6 April 2014 – ‘Family friendly’ and sick pay

The maximum weekly pay of statutory maternity, adoption and paternity pay will increase to £138.18 (from £136.78).

The rate for statutory sick pay will increase to £87.55 (from £86.70).

The earnings threshold wil increase to £111 (from £109).
